On December 9, 2020, the world's first 220 kV Distributed Power Flow Controller (DPFC)supplied by NR, Huzhou DPFC pilot project of State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd., has successfully completed all system tests in the first phase and has been put into operation.
DPFC is an advance type of flexible power flow control device based on high-power power electronic technology. It can dynamically optimize the line impedance characteristics, effectively control the power flow transfer, and enhance the load capacity & security of regional power grid. The total design capacity of Huzhou DPFC pilot project is 58MVA. It is estimated that the dynamic transfer of power flow can reach 150MW. The first phase project has the capacity of power flow transfer of 64MW.
The construction of Huzhou DPFC project can effectively solve the problem of overload line in Huzhou Power Grid, optimize the power flow distribution of local power grid, enhance the regional power supply capacity, and improve the overall efficiency of the power grid, which has great social and economic benefits.Huzhou DPFC adopted the outdoor arrangement scheme of converter valve, which is the first time of this kind of application for 220 kV transmission lines in the world.
NR has provided a complete set of converter valve equipment, protection & control system, as well as relevant supporting facilities for Huzhou DPFC pilot project.
In recent years, NR has been committed to the development of flexible AC / DC transmission technology. Among them, the complete set of power flow controller series developed by NR have been successfully applied to 220kV Nanjing UPFC project and 500kV Sunan UPFC project, which has played an important role in improving the utilization efficiency of power grid and ensuring the safe operation of power grid. The 220kV Huzhou DPFC pilot project put into operation has realized a more flexible engineering scheme for special application scenarios on the basis of the original unified power flow controller, which further reflects the leading level of NR in the field of flexible AC / DC transmission technology.
