In March 2017, the first set of lithium battery and the first set of lead carbon BESS in Power Grid Corporation of Inida Ltd (PGCIL), designed for frequency regulator,peak shaving and load shifting Energy Storage Project ，have been successfully put into operation. NR was responsible for providing the power conversion system（PCS）and gird connection protection and control system which included 500 kW PCS (PCS – 9567), power management system (PMS)（PCS – 9617MG） and SCADA system.(PCS – 9700)
With the booming renewable energy integrated to India's power grid, it is a challenge to keep the the stability of the power grid, due to the renewable energy is not as stable as the tradional power supply. PCS solution is an effective measure to add voltage support and grid stabilization, decreases in transmission losses and congestion. NR has kept to provid protection and control soluton to PGCIL India during the past five years, and understanded power grid requirements and standards in India. This BESS solution completely meets the demand of India's power grid. NR PCS has On-site verified performance with UL and TUV certification. PCS – 9617MG PMS is based on GOOSE communication technology enable accurately control of the power system within millisecond, equipped with frequency regulator,voltage regulator,peak shaving and power fluctuation smoothing application,which could applied to various energy storage system. PCS – 9700 SCADA based on the mature experience for the energy storage systemis compatible with all kinds of the latest standards in power system.
NR BESS solution passed the acceptance test of PGCIL successfully in time. PGCIL is please to execute the first BESS with NR solution and service.
