On December 23, 2024, Malaysia's power industry ushered in a historic moment when Malaysia's first large-scale electrochemical energy storage (EES) project - Sejingkat 60MW/60MWh Energy Storage Project in Sarawak, East Malaysia - was officially put into operation. The project is located in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, invested and constructed by SEB Power Company, with China Energy Construction Jiangsu Institute as the EPC contractor. As a world-renowned energy storage solution provider, NR provides a complete set of AC side solutions for Sejingkat energy storage system, including energy storage Power Conversion System (PCS), Power Management System(PMS), Energy Management System (EMS) and other core products. The successful commissioning of this project marks an important breakthrough for NR in the Malaysian energy storage market, and also means that Malaysia has taken a solid step forward in the field of green energy storage.
The project adopts NR advanced energy storage technology, which effectively balances the fluctuations of the power grid through fast and accurate active/reactive power response, frequency and voltage regulation, helping the grid to balance supply and demand during peak hours as well as providing backup power in case of emergency. The application of these technologies improves the stability and reliability of the power system, enhances the efficiency of energy utilization, and helps reduce carbon emissions to support the achievement of Malaysia's climate goals.
During the execution of the project, NR completed a number of technical studies, such as system simulation studies, electric field simulation, and passed the strict factory test, field test and commissioning test, and all the technical indicators meet the strict requirements of Malaysia SEB Power Company and consulting companies.
NR will continue to support the global green and low-carbon transformation through innovative technological solutions, and contribute to building a cleaner and more stable energy system.
