Recently, NR Electric, as a globally renowned provider of energy storage solutions, has once again received recognition for its AC-side comprehensive solution provided to the UK's Richborough Energy Park Phase II storage project. This project has cut more carbon emissions than any other battery project in the UK in 2024, highlighting NR Electric' outstanding contribution to promoting the transition to clean energy.

The Richborough Energy Park Phase II project has a capacity of 50 MW/50 MWh and is developed, managed, and operated by Pacific Green Technologies (PGT), with Shell representing Sosteneo for power trading optimization. According to an analysis report from Modo Energy, an authoritative third-party statistical agency, as of September 2024, the project has successfully reduced carbon emissions by 12,945 tons, making it the top project in terms of emission reductions among all battery storage projects in the UK. Meanwhile, its sister project, the 50 MW/50 MWh Energy Park Phase I, also ranks within the top 20 carbon reduction storage battery projects in the UK, effectively avoiding 6,403 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

NR Electric leveraged its deep technical expertise and quality product services to provide key control equipment for both phases of the Richborough Energy Park project, including PCS skid, coordination controllers, and energy storage management systems. The application of these technologies significantly improved the control accuracy and response speed of the storage system, providing excellent frequency stabilization services to the grid. This performance was particularly prominent in Dynamic Containment services, where stringent requirements are placed on the dynamic response performance of overall station. Such services were traditionally provided by combined cycle gas turbines, hence this shift has notably reduced the carbon emissions associated with frequency response previously generated by combined cycle gas turbines.

As the UK transitions towards a low-carbon energy system, battery storage systems play a critical role in stabilizing grid frequency and increasing the utilization rate of renewable energy. Through innovative technology solutions, NR Electric supports more green energy projects like Richborough Energy Park, collectively promoting the transformation of the global energy structure and contributing to a cleaner and more stable future.
