The project serves the power grids of five major power regions across Saudi Arabia: Riyadh, Rabigh, Dawadmi, Jouf and Qassim. As the world’s largest grid-side grid-forming energy storage cluster, it is equipped with more than 2,000 PCS units and integrates core grid-forming functions including power regulation, primary frequency control, dynamic voltage regulation, black start and weak/strong grid adaptability. The project will effectively enhance the Saudi power grid’s regulation capabilities and renewable energy integration capacity, alleviate local power supply shortages, and ensure the stable operation of the grid. It also fully aligns with Saudi Arabia’s energy transformation strategy, strongly underpins the delivery of Saudi Vision 2030, and facilitates the development of a new-type power system in the country.
