NR Electric assisted Mongolia's first 80MW/200MWh grid-side energy storage power station to successfully complete black start test

Mongolia recently achieved historic progress in its energy sector with the successful completion of a black start test for its first large-scale grid-side energy storage power station—an 80MW/200MWh energy storage project. As the core technology supplier, NR Electric provided a complete solution for this project, including PCS (Power Conversion System), PMS (Power Management System), and EMS (Energy Management System). The successful implementation of this key project marks a significant improvement in Mongolia's power system modernization and energy security capabilities.

Black start is successful at one time

As a benchmark project for Mongolia's energy infrastructure construction, the commissioning of this energy storage power station will bring multiple strategic benefits:

1. Optimize and upgrade the energy structure

Once the energy storage power station is stably connected to the Mongolian national grid, it will undertake core functions such as frequency and peak regulation. Through precise regulation of power storage charge and discharge, it will effectively smooth grid load fluctuations, enhance the ability to absorb renewable energy, and lay the foundation for building a clean and efficient modern energy system.

2. Improve energy security capabilities

The project's operation will significantly reduce Mongolia's dependence on imported energy, effectively address the risk of unstable energy supply by enhancing the grid's autonomous regulation capabilities, and improve the country's energy security.

3. Improve the power emergency system

As Mongolia's first energy storage system equipped with power plant black start capabilities, the project fills a gap in emergency restoration technology for the country's power system. In extreme power outage situations, it can quickly restore power supply, significantly enhancing the grid's disaster resilience and emergency response capabilities.

The project achieved breakthrough results through stable operation in extremely cold environments. Through its innovative cold-resistant equipment technology and intelligent control system, NR Electric overcame the technical difficulties of operating energy storage equipment in cold regions, accumulating valuable experience for the construction of energy storage projects in similar climate conditions.

After the project's official commissioning, the reliability and stability of Mongolia's power grid will be significantly improved. NR Electric will continue to optimize technological innovations, providing more efficient integrated energy storage solutions to global users, and contributing to global energy transformation and sustainable development in the power industry.
