The IEC working group convened by NR Electric experts, officially published the IEC standard for high-voltage parallel reactive power compensation system

The international tenical report(Abbreviated as tr) for high-voltage shunt reactive power compensation systems, “IEC TR 63575: 2025 Performance of power electronic shunt reactive power compensation devices in high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) systems”, was officially published on July 30, 2025. The development of this tr has garnered significant international attention, with over 20 experts from countries including China, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Finland, Serbia, Sweden, and Germany participating in its formulation.

In 2021, the IEC TC22/SC22F Subcommittee officially appointed Fang Taixun, deputy chief engineer of NR Electric R&D, as convener to lead the ahG1 Working Group in conducting preliminary research on the tr. At the annual meeting held in Stockholm, Sweden, in October 2023, the proposal received unanimous support, leading to the formal establishment of the WG43 Working Group. Over the course of more than four years of tr development, the working group organized six international working group meetings and completed ten iterations of the tr draft. The tr was finalized as a committee draft in April 2024.In June 2025, it was unanimously approved by all committee member countries to enter the publication phase, ultimately being officially published in July 2025.

This report tr specifies the terminology, scope of application, and performance requirements for high-voltage shunt reactive power compensation equipment. It will promote the application and technical exchange of high-voltage shunt reactive power compensation technology based on power electronics technology, and provide users and suppliers with an international, trized reference benchmark.
