NR Electric helps high-altitude salt lake lithium mine new energy power system successful commissioning in South America

On July 24, 2025, the new energy power system of the ZIJIN-LONGKING Argentina 3Q Salt Lake Lithium Mine in Catamarca Province, Argentina, successfully completed system testing and officially put into operation for generation. This marks the first successful application of NR's integrated new energy power system solution in a high-altitude region in South America.

The Argentina 3Q Project is located in the core region of the Andes Mountains in South America at an altitude of 4,100 meters. It consists of a grid-forming energy storage system with a total installed capacity of 20.8 MW/50.4 MWh, a 40 MW photovoltaic system, and a 16 Mvar dynamic reactive power compensation device. NR Electric provided the project with a complete set of core equipment, including grid-forming PCS converters, source-grid-load-storage coordination control systems, microgrid control systems, and renewable energy EMS monitoring systems, enabling the project to achieve stable grid connection and efficient utilization of high proportions of renewable energy. The commissioning of the new energy power system has effectively addressed the long-standing issues of the mining area's reliance on diesel-powered electricity supply, including high costs and unstable voltage. It has significantly improved power supply stability, drastically reduced electricity costs, and annually reduced carbon emissions by tens of thousands of tons, achieving a win-win outcome of economic and environmental benefits.
