NR Electric supports the commissioning of the Hami-Chongqing ±800 kV ultra-high voltage direct current transmission project

On the morning of June 10, 2025, the Hami-Chongqing ±800 kV ultra-high voltage direct current transmission project was put into operation and began power transmission. This HVDC project, which carries the mission of “bringing Xinjiang's electricity to Chongqing,” has opened a new chapter. Xinjiang's green energy crosses thousands of miles and flows continuously into the Chongqing power grid.

The Hami-Chongqing HVDC Transmission Project starts at the Baryn Converter Station in Hami, Xinjiang, and passes through five provinces and municipalities—Xinjiang, Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Chongqing—before reaching its destination at the Yubei Converter Station in Chongqing. The project spans a total length of 2,290 kilometers with a rated transmission capacity of 8GW. Upon completion, it is expected to transmit over 36 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.

NR Electric provided this project with core equipment such as HVDC control protection, measurement, stabilization control, and AC protection.

The commissioning and power supply of Hami-Chongqing HVDC fully demonstrate NR's deep technical expertise in the field of ultra-high voltage transmission equipment. In the future, NR Electric will continue to adhere to its corporate mission of “creating value and serving society,” further deepening its expertise in ultra-high voltage technology to make new contributions to the construction of a new generation power system.
